Whim's Place Flash Fiction
During my week at home one of the only pieces of writing I got done was for a flash fiction contest on Whim's Place website. I actually finished it about 15 minutes before the deadline...They do quarterly flash fiction contests. I'm starting to really like the idea of flash fiction--short, short stories. Before I actually figured out what it was I assumed that it had something to do with science fiction writing--Flash! Flash! But it can be about anything, and the piece I wrote was under 500 words. It is a good plan for not having an excuse to write. Even I can write 500 words without the experience being too painful.
Go enter their next contest.
Sadly, Whim's Place seldom publishes anything of any value.

I beg to differ.

Oh, I don't know. I think Whim's Place has a gem or two to offer. Then again, I'm kind of partial, since I'm the owner. :)
Good luck with your entry! We love to see what kind of twists people can add to stories in 500 words or less. It takes a lot more talent than most people realize.
